![]() Oxygenating plants play a vital role in balancing a pond and keeping it clear. They directly compete with algae for dissolved nutrients. In addition, oxygenating plants trap debris in their foliage and are used for a spawning medium for your fish. We recommend one bunch of oxygenating plants per 1- 2 square feet of pond. Several bunches can be potted together (6 bunches per 5 quart pale). Pot oxygenating plants in heavy garden soil, after removing the rubber band from the bunch and press the stems one to two inches into the soil. Top off with pea gravel in the same manner as with the water lilies, and place in 6 or more inches of water. If your first are over six inches long, allow newly planted oxygenators to become established before placing in pool.
