Full sun refers to areas in your landscape that receive at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Part sun and part shade areas receive between four hours to six hours of sunlight each day. If the plant calls for partial shade, it will do better at the lower end of this scale. If the plant calls for partial sun, it will do better at the higher end of this scale. Full shade areas in your landscape receive fewer than four hours of sun each day.
Direct light comes from the sun and falls directly onto the plant. Indirect light is either filtered or comes into the room but does not fall directly on the plant.
Unfortunately, pots and containers are not truly representative of volume, i.e. a one gallon pot is generally not one gallon in volume. Additionally, there are no standardized container sizes across our many growers. Sizes listed on our website and in-store come directly from our growers and is based on their individual methodology. The below chart is an approximation of size, volume, and naming convention.

Mulch should be spread approximately one to three inches deep for fine mulch or two to four inches deep for coarser mulch. One two-cubic-foot bag, spread two inches deep will cover 12 square feet.

We only carry 100% natural hardwood, pine bark, and pine straw mulch without dyes or additives. Natural mulch increases soil organic matter and beneficial soil microbes, and also increases nutrient availability to plant roots. It’s a great product!

Dyed mulch is made from industrial wood waste, recycled construction debris, and wood trash. It often contains pressure-treated wood scraps which are full of chemicals such as chromium, copper, lead, formaldehyde, and arsenic. Not only are these mulches potentially hazardous to humans and pets, but are also terrible for soil and plant health. Say NO to dyed mulch!
