This Week in the Garden – Pollinator Meadow

Greetings from the Garden,

At Gateway, we have been Pollinating the Planet since 1979! We have a deep passion for native plants, which are the cornerstone of a healthy ecosystem. Years ago, we put in a native pollinator meadow at our home, and the meadow in full bloom is a simple joy that I look forward to all year long. Easy to care for, our meadow provides waves of color for months. As you can see from the photo, the brilliant blue Amsonia is stealing the show at the moment. Next to bloom is Echinacea (coneflower), Monarda (bee balm), Rudbeckia (black-eyed Susan), and Baptisia (wild/false indigo). Last but not least, it will be time for Asters. There is always something to look forward to!

Beauty aside, a native plant meadow also provides food, shelter, and habitat to a plethora of life – butterflies, hummingbirds, beneficial insects, and other important pollinators. It is a place that we all enjoy.

If you’re interested in your own pollinator meadow, please stop in and chat. We have our best selection of native perennials in store now with new plants arriving daily.

Enjoy the beautiful weather,
